Sharon Steven lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. Driven by an interest in the mechanics of image making and how these can be exploited, they’ve “hacked” several film formats and cameras, creating altered images conveyed against the material’s intended use in addition to experiences that parallel photography. Upon graduating from the School of Visual Arts in 2013, they served as Print Assistant and Mentee to international artist, Aura Rosenberg. In 2018, they founded Brooklyn Instant Film Initiative, a analog workshop that produces customized camera film. Photograph by Kunjo KR. |
