Having created some of the earliest instances of imagery created on integral film through the use of medium format equipment (seen here), I expanded on this aspect of my practice. Developing a method to produce imagery captured on Instax Wide film with a fully manual rangefinder, this area of my work disregarding conventional film & camera pairs is distinctly different in size as well as definition from previous integral film work in with a minimal control medium format outfit was used to capture imagery. As has always been my motive for employing integral film formats in ways they are not marketed to be used, I saw this film type as having greater potential than it’s intended cameras allowed for. Therefore, I began “hacking” instant film types, and arguably even the camera employed, to created imagery that suited my need for a tangible form of imagery, generated minutes after capture. Taking advantage of this format’s high film speed, and offer of the widest picture plane of instant film types in production has allowed for the creation of vibrant, sizable prints which are regularly on view in Brooklyn, New York. This gallery features a rotating batch of prints, the results of a truly unique method of capture. Created entirely in camera with little interference from manual controls, leaving light in complete control of the resulting image. |
